Randumb Thoughts for October 2010

Why is it...

So many people in the media CANNOT correctly pronounce the name “Rasmussen”? It is NOT pronounced Rass Mew Sun. It is pronounced Rass Muss, like Fuss, Sen.

The live streaming sports site, ESPN 3 keeps blacking out University of Connecticut Huskies Football games in the Kansas City area when no local stations or even any of the ESPN channels are carrying the games in this region?

The government keeps telling us the economy is fine and that the “recession” ended more than a year ago? Are they serious? Who are they trying to fool?

a college football team that was ranked 43rd in the Polls during the last week of September after soundly beating a out of conference teambut then drops to 62nd the following week despite clobbering another out of conference foe by the score of 40 to 21? The Answer? The UConn Huskies. Need I say more?

Some more songs that we’d like to see...

The Great Pretender by the Platters becomes “The Great Defender”. Sung by Lionel Richie. Biographical song about Elvis Patterson, former Cornerback for the New York Giants football team. Elvis’s nickname was “Toast” and according to Elvis it was because he was the “Toast of the town”. Unfortunately it was because he was always getting burnt.

I Wanna New Drug by Huey Lewis and the News is now “I Wanna New Rug”. Sung by James Taylor. Song about the late Sportscaster, Howard Cosell’s quest to find a superior Toupee.
