Attention Miami Dolphins Fans

Sunday, August 22, 2021 6:54 PM

This post is directed primarily at Dolphins fans that don’t live in the sphere of media influence of the media in FLA that covers the team.  There are many of us that live in other areas of the country and don’t get much news about the team from the national news media.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of several members of the famed early 1970’s Dolphins team that played in three straight Superbowls (1971, 1972 and 1973 seasons) and won two straighht Superbowls including the season (1972) they went undeafeated and completed the first perfect season and likely only one the NFL will ever see.  Here is a list of the players that have passed away since 2015 including several jplayers just since 2019.  I grew up watching that team and the emphasis the coaching sttaff had at the concept of treamwork was and is etched into my mind as being the best way to create a winning team or business.  Click on each team members name that links to some history of each team member.

Nick Buonaconti  Hall of Fame Middle Linebacker.  No Name Defense.

Jim Langer Hall of Fame Center.

Jake Scott.  Five Time Pro Bowler at Safety and should be member of the Hall of Fame.  No Name Defense.

Garo Yepremian. Two time Pro Bowl Place Kicker.

Bill Stanfill.   Five  time Pro Bowler at Defensive End.  No Name Defense.

Jim Kiick.  AFL All Star.  Halfback and part of the Butch and Sundance tandem with Larry Csonka.

Bob Küchenberg.  Six time Pro Bowler at Center and should be Hall of Famer.

Don Shula.   Last but not least, it should be noted that the guy that put this team together and became the winningest coach in NFL hisotyr, Don Shula passed away in 2020 at the age of 90.  Four fime NFL Coach of the Year. Simply the best.
