KWAQ AM 1580 hit the airwaves today with a new and improved transmitter.  A Chez Radio Procaster which is an FCC approved and Certfied Part 15 AM transmitter has greatly improved the range of the existing News/Talk format on WNKC AM 1620 and its Talking House transmitter.  If you live in the east central area of Covington you should be able to hear the signal around the Lincoln Court neighborhood and also neighborhoods that are adjacent to Lincoln Court.  The audio quality is on par with that of licensed stations allowing for the best possible listening experience on the AM dial.

The current format is Adult Contemporary Oldies from the early 1960’s through 1999 on weekdays and nights and also Saturday and Saturday night.  Overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning is Smooth Jazz. Sunday morning to evening our music is an Oldies format consisting mostly of Top 40 hits from 1955 to 1976.  Smooth Jazz airs yet again on Sunday night from 6 PM until Midnight.  The format is non commercial while we are in the testing phase over the next few months while in Covington.
