A few things worth mentioning

First the good news. As November comes to a close I've got some good news to report on the radio side of life. For several weeks I've been testing a new automation software program for Mac called Radio Logik DJ. My current program called MegaSeg has limitations as far as controlling when certain music should fire when I need it to alone with a suitable Sweeper. DJ can do this and does it well. Also, and just as important I've found the Scheduler software with DJ will create a perfect to near perfect hour play clock that allows for near seamless integration with a live internet stream feed at the Top of the Hour just after the Legal ID has fired. This will make it easy to play a Network news feed live without the need for a Satellite dish or even FTP file. While it does have the capability to play FTP files, in some ways simply utilizing the Line In function on the computer is easier and more reliable for playing a live stream on the air. I still have a couple more parts of the program to learn before it can be used on the air. I expect that will happen by the end of December. I should also mention that the Smooth Jazz playlist tis now up to over 950 songs. I hope to add an hour long weekly show comprised of Cincinnati area music from the past and present in the near future once the station is back on the air and hopefully with a signal that can reach more than two blocks!
WIMP AM has been off the air for a coupe of weeks. I had to return the Remote Antenna Tuning Unit for the Information Station Systems transmitter since the box was not air tight and seemed to leave during two recent heavy rainfalls. Since the range of the station was perhaps a block more than using just the indoor antenna here (a sign this location is really bad for broadcasting an AM signal) I have decided as a last resort to install the Hamilton Rangemaster in its place in December. The Rangemaster is the best Part 15 compliant AM transmitter currently on the market. If that cannot over come some of the numerous obstacles and deficiencies with the present location, nothing will. I noted a new Cell Tower that was built after I bought my home which is only a block and a half away from my home is a major disruption to my AM signal.
I've picked up some OT at my current job over the last month and it is allowing me to save more money than anticipated for this past month and also purchase a new monitor for one the studio computers. I would like to suggest to anyone reading this Blog to purchase Mentos and Air Heads candies whenever possible. LOL. I'm sure my employer will appreciate the free advertisement for their product.
I will be writing another article about a radio station in Brownsburg, Indiana in the next week. WYRZ FM 98.9 which is the former WXRB AM 1610 aka Radio Brownsburg is now a licensed LPFM station and their story is worthy of mention since they are one of the very few Part 15 AM stations that was able to obtain a licensed station during the last filing window with the FCC. I hope to have that written over the next week or two and it will be located on The Low Power AM Radio Network website.
Research on new communities for relocation purposes is continuing. I am concentrating mostly on small towns away from city centers and even metro areas now that I seem to have developed a pretty severe sinus problem in the last two metro areas I've lived. During my travels to rural areas I have noted I have far less trouble with phlegm in my throat and sinus congestion in most of the smaller towns unless the local agricultural community is using a lot of chemicals on the crops. Man made triggers in the cities and small towns seems to be the cause of my problem though with the Cincinnati area, I suspect the flora is also a problem which is the case for many in the Ohio River Valley. My nose will be utilized as a barometer in helping me to choose my next place to live and develop a property functioning Part 15 AM radio station.
The bad news follows. Had a vacation from work this week and as usual I was sick again. This happens EVERY YEAR right around or just prior to Thanksgiving. This has been an ongoing problem for over a decade now and I can't figure out why. Seems to be a combination of a bad cold and sinus infection. As the weekend winds down it does seem to be improving some and I will be back to work on Monday December 2, and hopefully not Germanatin' all over my co workers. LOL. At least the sinus infections are not contagious.
I had to cancel my plans to look at a community in West Virginia after the property that appeared to he suited for the radio station was sold. Will plan to look at some other communities and properties after Christmas and hope that I can purchase a suitable property by Spring of next year. Plans to relocate out of the Cincinnati area by the Spring of 2021 or the end of 2021 at the latest is the goal.
